So, whenever I finish a project or something in ON, I use the export function of the desktop/Office 365 version of OneNote to export each page, or a full section at once, to a DOCX file (handwritten notes being exported as a PDF files), as I don't fear DOCX going away anytime soon: I still have my earliest Word files (from the early 90s) and I had no problem at all converting them to newer formats, when I had too along those years, and they are now living their life as DOCX files )Īlso, by using Word (and keeping using OneNote) I can benefit the full integration with Windows and OneDrive, and I can use the iOS version of the apps to work on my iPad. But ON is a great note taking tool and I want to keep using it. I don't have much confidence in ON future export capabilities as an UWP app. For many others it might be a viable solution. My personal workaround: paper + scanning with a decent scanner: For a OneNote user that heavily relies on handwritten notes, this might not be an alternative. Yes, of course, another missing thing in Org-mode is the missing handwriting notes thing. Please don't try to put it in a box you already know. Org-mode is really hard to grasp because there is no similar thing out there so far I know. No-one has to do programming with Org-mode, it's a possibility. You can do but on speed if you like: calculate something with Python, use its output as input of a C function, render its result via R and comment your workflow in-between. Org-mode solved the problem that solved using Python.

For example, Markdown does not provide spreadsheet calculation, does it? -)
